GOOD BILLS WE ARE FOLLOWING

AB 600

AB 600 - Introduced, no hearing set, most likely dead - Allows parents or guardians to request that their child be excused from any public-school instruction that discusses transgender concepts. 

AB 579

AB 579 - Introduced, no hearing set, most likely dead - Yaeli's Law. Clarifies that using a child's legal name and pronouns based on their birth sex and refusing to provide "gender-affirming care" does not qualify as child abuse or neglect. 

AB 844

AB 844 - Failed to pass committee. Dead - Requires students to participate in sex-segregated school programs and sports based on their biological sex, not their gender identity. 

AB 281

AB 281—Passed committee; in appropriations—This bill would require a school district, as defined, to allow a pupil’s parent or guardian to inspect any written or audiovisual educational material used in comprehensive sexual health education and HIV prevention education and authorize a parent or guardian to make copies of any written educational material that will be distributed to pupils.


BAD BILLS WE ARE FOLLOWING

AB 727

AB 727 - Passed committee; in appropriations - Requires schools and colleges to add the Trevor Project hotline, which provides counseling to LGBTQ+ students, to student IDs. 

AB 54

AB 54 - Passed committee; in appropriations -  Access to "Safe" Abortion Care Act. Makes legislative findings about medication abortion, with a focus on the use of the drugs Mifepristone and Misoprostol, with the intent to enact legislation that would ensure access to medication abortion. 

SB 403

SB 403 - First Hearing April 23 - Placeholder bill stating that the Legislature intends to enact legislation amending the End of Life Option Act, which legalizes assisted suicide.
